Dr. Abdulsalami A. Sambo

Dr. Abdulsalami A. Sambo hails from Bauchi State. He was born in Jos, Plateau State where he had his elementary school. Dr. Sambo is a Mathematics Scholar with a PhD. (Math Edu 1980) from University of Alberta, Edmonton, Canada. He has authored so many books.

He was appointed Executive Secretary and Chief Executive Officer to establish the National Primary Education Commission, Kaduna (NPEC) to manage primary education in all the states and local governments in the country. He served two separate terms (September 1st, 1988 to December 31st, 1990 and from March 1st, 1994 to January 7th, 1997).

Dr. P.S. Orimoloye

Dr. P. S. Orimoloye Jubril, is a self-made brilliant scholar from Ondo State, and a teacher by profession. He had his Grade Two Teacher Certificate (GDII) in 1976, National Certificate in Education (NCE) in 1980 and Bachelors Degree in Education Art (B.A.ED) in 1986.

He coordinated the affairs of the organization, then known as Special Project Unit (SPU) under the Federal Ministry of Education from 1990 to 1993.

Dr. Joseph Odidi Itoto

Dr. Joseph Odidi Itoto was born in Obeidu Uromi of Esan North East Local Government Area of Edo State. He started his early education in Zaria. He had his first degree in English language and PhD in Educational Evaluation. In November 1993, after National Primary Education Commission (NPEC), Kaduna was re – established, he took over the mantle of leadership as the Acting Executive Secretary for a few months. He disengaged his services in March 1994.

Alhaji Sani Bagiwa Idris

Alhaji Sani Bagiwa Idris served as an Interim Administrator of the National Primary Education Commission (NPEC).

Dr. Ali Adamu

Dr. Ali Adamu hails from Yobe State. He was appointed the Executive Secretary of the Commission in 1997. He served till 1999.

Alhaji U.B. Ahmed

Alhaji U. B. Ahmed served as an Interim Executive Secretary of NPEC.

Hajiya Amina I

Hajiya Amina I. Kere Ahmed was born in Bida, in Niger State. She was a brilliant Scholar and a seasoned educationist. She was the only candidate admitted to Queen Elizabeth Secondary School, Ilorin in 1960 and graduated with distinction. She had B.A. (Hons) in English and a Master’s Degree in Britain.

Hajiya Kere Ahmed

Hajiya Kere Ahmed was appointed Executive Secretary of the National Primary Education Commission (NPEC) from 1999 to 2000

Professor Pius Augustine Ike (PAI) Obanya

Professor Pius Augustine Ike (PAI) Obanya hails from Okpanam in Oshimili Local Government Area of Delta State. He is the pioneer National Coordinator/ Chief Executive of Universal Basic Education Program (UBEP). Professor PAI is a First Class Scholar and a renowned educationist who until his appointment on 5th January, 2000 for a 5 year term was an Assistant Director – General in UNESCO.

He will be known for restructuring the National Primary Education Commission (NPEC) and ensuring the successful take-off of the UBE programme. He left office in 2001 after spending fourteen (14) months

Professor Gidado M. Tahir

Professor Gidado M. Tahir hails from Adamawa State. He was appointed to head the Commission from the National Commission for Nomadic Education (NCNE) as the National Coordinator / Chief Executive on 19th April 2001. He is a First Class scholar and educationist with his Professorship as far back as 1995.

In October 2003, he bagged the Nigerian National Honours of Officer of THE ORDER OF NIGER (OON) by the former President Olusegun Obasanjo, GCFR. In accordance with the provision of the Universal Basic Education Act 2004, Professor Gidado Tahir was re-designated as Executive Secretary, Universal Basic Education Commission. He disengaged his services with UBEC on April 10th 2007.  He is happily married.

Professor Oghenerume Charles Onocha

Professor Oghenerume Charles Onocha is a professor of education and First Class Scholar of the University of Ibadan. He was appointed Director Monitoring and Evaluation in the Universal Basic Education Program (UBEP) on 3rd May, 2001. On 16th May, 2004, he was appointed Deputy Executive Secretary (Technical), for the Commission for a period of 5 years which was renewed for another 4 years. He spent his last year in office as the Deputy Executive Secretary (Technical) and as Acting Executive Secretary of UBEC. His second tenure of 4 years in which he acted as Executive Secretary of UBEC expired in November, 2013.

Alhaji (Dr.) Dikko Suleiman

Alhaji (Dr.) Dikko Suleiman is a man of excellent spirit. He hails from Danmusa Local Government Area in Katsina State. He is a seasoned educationist and a teacher by profession. He had his Grade Two Teacher Certificate (GDII) in 1976, National Certificate in Education (NCE) in 1980, Bachelors Degree in Education Art (B.A.ED) in 1986, Masters Degree (M.ED) in Developmental Psychology in 2000 and PhD Child Development in 2009.

Dr. Dikko Suleiman is also an author of so many books and journals (both national and international). Prior to his appointment in UBEC in November 2013 as Executive Secretary, he was the Executive Chairman of Katsina State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB).

Dr (Mrs) Lami Amodu

Dr. (Mrs.) Lami Amodu was appointed Executive Secretary on 10th April, 2007 for 5 year tenure. She is a native of Ejegbo in Ankpa Local Government of Kogi State and married with children. On August 30th, 2007 she was deployed to head the Federal Inspectorate Services of the Federal Ministry of Education. She was the First female Executive Secretary of the UBE Commission.

Dr. Ahmed Modibbo

Dr. Ahmed Modibbo Mohammed hails from Adamawa State in the North-East geopolitical zone of Nigeria. He had his primary and secondary education between 1960 and 1973 and his higher education in Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria [BA (Hons)] 1973-1976, (PhD 1985) and Harvard University Courses on Management of Education Programmes (2002). Prior to his appointment in UBEC, he was the Director General and Chief Executive of the National Teachers’ Institute (NTI), Kaduna. His five year tenure spanned from2007 to 2012.

She hails from Bende LGA of Abia State. She holds a B.Sc, 1987 from the University of Nigeria, Nsukka.

Dr. Danjuma Adamu Dabo – Rep. North East

Dr. Danjuma hails from Bauchi State. He obtained M.Sc Public Administration and Policy Analysis from the University of Abuja, MBA form Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria and Ph.D Economics from the Loughborough University, UK.
